A swan taking flight, made out of thin strips of balsa wood. I studied these birds intently while they are lifting off; their gracious wings flapping, feet kicking the water surface to carry their large bodies into the sky. I picked up my ruler, knife and glue gun once again to cut and paste the thin strips into the form of a swan. By pasting several strips on top of each other in slightly different curves I could create the rounded shapes. On a larger scale I often use this technique, called laminating, in my projects.
