A lectern for a 13th Century Gothic Church. I’ve echoed the shapes of the organ of the church. With its sharp contrast of flowing shapes and straight lines, it suggests the flow and staccato of music. Is there a better source of inspiration for a piece from where one aspires to proclaim a speech, sermon or story? The lectern looks like it has grown; a stem with a flower bud that starts to open. To build the flowing shapes, I’ve used steam bending and lamination techniques.
